Preparation
Preparing for your colonoscopy with OsmoPrep™
- Please arrive at our office, 30 minutes prior to the scheduled time.
- You may not drive after the procedure and must have someone to take you home because of sedation that you will receive through an I.V. You should not stay home alone after the procedure.
- No peas, beans, corn, nuts, seeds, etc. for 48 hours prior to your examination.
- Take all medications with sips of water the day of the colonoscopy by 6AM.
- If you are diabetic, do NOT take insulin the day of the procedure but bring it along with you.
- Start preparation the day before your colonoscopy
- MORNING AND NOON: Full liquids until 2PM, which includes: coffee, decaffeinated coffee, milk, Cream of Wheat, Cream of Rice, Maltomeal, cornmeal, Jello, sherbet, custard, tapioca, fruit or vegetable juice, broth or bouillon, jelly, ice cream. Drink plenty of juice. Honey, hard candy and sugar as desired.
- AFTERNOON: Take first regimen of Osmoprep at 2:00PM.
- CLEAR LIQUIDS ONLY FROM 2PM UNTIL MIDNIGHT, including: coffee, tea, Kool Aid, carbonated beverages if tolerated, Jello, fruit ice, Jello whips, popsicles, fruit juice (must be clear such as grape, cherry, and apple) - NO PULP - clear broth, consommé, bouillon, hard candy and sugar. NO RED JELLO OR TOMATO JUICE. It is very important to consume large volumes of liquids throughout the day.
- There is a possibility that you will experience some bloating or cramping. This is not abnormal and should be temporary.
- EVENING: Take second regimen of Osmoprep at 8PM.
- NOTHING TO EAT OR DRINK AFTER MIDNIGHT (EXCEPT MEDICINES - SEE ABOVE #4 & #5)
