EMR

We no longer keep paper "charts". We use an electronic medical record system, PrimeSuite™, produced by Greenway Medical Technologies. It integrates all demographic, referral, clinical and other information. The programs meet all criteria for interoperability with other systems, security and functionality.* This software improves our efficiency and response time and decreases the risk of data loss. We keep, with you help, a complete record of your medical history, medications, allergies, etc. A record of your visit is immediately available for you and/or your referring doctor(s) after most visits. The software also allows electronic prescribing and automatic checks on allergies and drug interactions. Finally, there is a secure portal, accessible via the Patient Log-In page of our website, by which you can contact us and we can respond (please be aware that this is not for emergency communications). You can obtain and complete your pre-visit forms here, as well.

We do have paper records maintained off-site, for patients last see between January 2006 and September 2007. These are converted to electronic records if/when those patients return for visits. The records of patients seen by Dr. Kafka prior to 2006 have been retained by Beth Israel Medical Center and may be obtained from their Department of Surgery.
