Missed Appointments

Office Policy Regarding Missed Appointments

We try very hard to accommodate our patients. One of the ways we do this is by strictly limiting the number of patients we schedule each day. This minimizes you r wait and maximizes your time with the doctor. However, it also means that we rely on you to keep your appointment. In past years, patients who have missed their appointments without adequate notice have cost us a great deal of money, which is needed to pay our overhead (rent, electric, etc). We need 24-48 hours to re-book your slot, depending on what is scheduled. We have, therefore, instituted the following policy:

  • Patients who miss office appointments without providing 24 hours' notice (Friday for Monday appointments) will be charged $50.00.
  • Those who miss colonoscopy or surgery appointments without 48 hours' notice (Thursday for Mondays and Friday for Tuesdays) will be charged $150.00.
  • These fees WILL NOT be paid by your insurance company, but will be billed directly to you. Furthermore, we will be unable to see you again until the bill has been paid.
  • Missed appointments with no notice at all are called "no-shows." We allow 2 no-shows and will provide written notice to you if/when they occur. After the third no-show, we will be unable to provide further care (except emergencies that arise during the period of transition of your care to someone else). We will be happy to provide referrals to other physicians with whom you may be able to form a better relationship, should this occur, and will expeditiously send your records if you request.
