Referrals

Many insurance plans require referrals to pay for visits to specialty physicians. These referrals, if needed, are generally obtained from your primary physician. Sometimes, they can be obtained from other referring doctors. You are responsible for providing any necessary referral(s) prior to or at the time of your appointment. You may bring the referral or have it emailed or faxed by your doctor. If no referral is provided, and the insurance company therefore refuses to pay for the visit, you will be charged.
